TMJ Treatment for Jaw Function in La Vergne

TMJ treatment fits people who notice jaw pain, joint sounds, tight chewing muscles, or trouble opening the mouth. Our evaluation focuses on the specific findings that help decide whether chiropractic care fits your condition.

The key decision is whether jaw movement and related muscle findings connect with your symptoms. Bite assessment adds useful context, but this service isn't a substitute for urgent medical care when swelling, trauma, or severe restriction appears.

  • Describe when jaw discomfort, clicking, or limited movement began.
  • Bring details about any car accident, workplace injury, slip, or fall.
  • Note whether chewing, speaking, or opening your mouth changes symptoms.
  • Ask how findings will shape your personalized treatment plan.

Service Overview

TMJ treatment is care that evaluates the jaw joints, chewing muscles, bite, and related movement problems.

  • It differs from general chiropractic care because the assessment focuses on jaw function and facial muscle tenderness.
  • Advanced Injury Care Clinic provides this care for patients in La Vergne.

Why Patients Choose Focused Jaw Care

A focused starting point

Jaw movement, bite assessment, and muscle tenderness guide the first evaluation. We don't treat every jaw complaint the same way.

Care linked to injury records

When symptoms follow a car accident or workplace incident, our team can combine chiropractic care with medical evaluation and injury documentation.

A clear boundary for care

This service is the wrong fit for a severe facial injury, major swelling, or another urgent condition that needs immediate medical attention.

Process

How We Evaluate Jaw Concerns

1

Complete the new patient intake

We record your health history, symptoms, injury details, and main concerns before the physical assessment.

2

Check jaw movement

We observe opening, closing, and related jaw motion to note limits, discomfort, or uneven movement.

3

Review bite function

We assess how your bite meets during jaw motion and relate that finding to your reported symptoms.

4

Check muscle tenderness

We examine the muscles involved in chewing and note areas that feel tender during the evaluation.

5

Explain findings and next steps

We discuss the findings, consider imaging if clinically indicated, and outline a personalized treatment plan when appropriate.

What This Jaw Evaluation Helps You Decide

A focused assessment connects jaw movement with the symptoms you notice.

Bite and muscle findings give your care plan a clearer starting point.

Documented treatment progress can support recovery records after an injury.

You receive clear next steps without guessing which concern should be addressed first.

My fiancé & I was in an accident on 4/16/2024 and since we started treatment at the clinic the staff has been very helpful. They’re very professional, polite& efficient. Dr. Roberts always make sure that she ask us if we’re ok before and after treatment. She also makes sure that we clearly understand the process and answers any question’s or concerns that we may have. I would recommend her to anyone that needs proper treatment after an injury.

Questions Patients Ask About Jaw Care

How is TMJ dysfunction evaluated?

Joint sounds help guide an evaluation of jaw movement, bite function, and muscle tenderness. Advanced Injury Care Clinic begins with a health history and symptom review. Our clinicians then observe jaw motion, assess bite contact, and check related muscles. If the findings suggest another medical concern, we explain the appropriate next step.

What should I bring to a first jaw evaluation?

Health history details and injury records help us understand your jaw concern. Bring medical records, imaging reports, and information about any car accident or workplace incident. A short note about pain, chewing, speaking, and jaw movement can also help. We use those details during the new patient intake.

Which jaw findings can change the care plan?

Jaw movement, bite contact, muscle tenderness, and injury history can change the care plan. Limited motion may call for a different approach than tenderness without movement changes. Our team explains which findings matter and includes documented treatment progress as care continues.

When should jaw symptoms receive prompt medical attention?

Severe swelling, major facial trauma, or sudden inability to open the mouth needs prompt medical attention. Persistent pain and chewing trouble also deserve an evaluation. In La Vergne, patients can discuss non-emergency concerns through a free initial consultation, while urgent symptoms should receive appropriate medical care first.

Why does my bite matter during this assessment?

Bite contact matters because it shows how the upper and lower teeth meet during jaw movement. A change in bite can help explain why chewing feels different or why muscles feel strained. We compare the bite finding with your symptoms and health history before discussing care.

How does injury documentation fit jaw care?

Injury documentation records the symptoms, findings, and treatment progress connected to a personal injury or workplace case. Our team combines this record with medical evaluation and chiropractic care when appropriate. The record can help organize your recovery information, but it doesn't determine legal responsibility or guarantee a claim outcome.
